Cambodia and Malaysia have expressed their optimism over the bilateral cooperation in various sectors, especially trade, investment, tourism and education. H.E. Ieng Sophalet, Assistant to the Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, told this to reporters after the meeting at the Peace Palace between Samdech Techo and visiting Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education H.E. Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin.

During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen urged the Malaysian side to accept Cambodian students’ credits, i.e. if they finished their 2nd-year studies in Cambodia, they can continue their 3rd-year studies in Malaysia.

For his part, H.E. Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin pledged to encourage more Malaysian investors to invest in Cambodia in the fields of agriculture, rubber plantation, infrastructure development and energy.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his warm welcome to the Malaysian investors and highlighted the potential of the Cambodian rice sector.

In the past ten years, Cambodia attracted some US$2.61 billion investment from Malaysia in banking, finance, tourism, and information technology, while the two-way trade reached US$420 million last year.
